This day in #F1 history – 13th May 1950 – The inaugural F1 Race

The first Official Formula 1 race was run today in 1950. The race had 22 entries and interestingly no car run the number 13. Giuseppe Farina took Pole position and went on to Win the race.

Interesting Classic #F1 fact – McLaren’s First World Champion

#Ferrari’s First #F1 World Champion

The first driver to lift the FIA Formula 1 drivers championship was Alberto Ascari. The Italian was also Ferrari’s first double world champion.
